Milford Hall Cricket Club

The Club is situated in the beautiful village of Milford in Staffordshire on the edge of Cannock Chase, overlooked by the magnificent Milford Hall.

Records of cricket at Milford go back over 100 years but the present club dates back to 1930 when a meeting was held at Milford Hall to discuss the formation of a club to replace Walton Cricket Club which had disbanded some years earlier. The new club was duly established, thanks largely to the work of Wilfred Morgan and Bert Snoxall, along with Mrs Levett of Milford Hall who made 'the extremely generous offer of free use of the ground'.

The first pavilion was built in July 1930 and was constructed from old World War One packing cases. This pavilion was replaced in 1970 with the current facility which itself has been extended three times since.

Milford Hall became a founder member of the Staffordshire Club Cricket Championship in 1975 and has participated in every season since, winning a number of team and individual honours on the way.

The Club is now one of the most forward thinking and lively cricket clubs in the county and the main ground is widely acknowledged as one of the most picturesque in the country.

Senior Cricket

Following their promotion as Champions of the Staffs Clubs Premier League in 2016, Milford Hall will return to play first eleven and second eleven cricket in the Birmingham and District Premier League in 2017.

The club's successes in 2016 include:

Champions of Staffs Clubs Premier (first eleven)

Champions of Staffs Clubs Division One (second eleven)

Champions of NSCCL Division 8 (Shugborough MH eleven)

League Cup Winners (first eleven)

The club will also field three teams in the Cicada Staffs Clubs Championship for 2017; namely the third team, fourth team and fifth team,

This means the club will continue to offer cricket for five teams each and every Saturday.

In 2013, Milford Hall CC joined forces with Shugborough Cricket Club who were an established side playing friendly matches from their home ground in the nearby Shugborough Estate. However, for 2017, the two names will merge to form one club. The Shugborough ground will be the home ground for all fifth team matches and some fourth team matches.

On Sunday's we field a side in the Lichfield League while the 1st XI will aim to repeat their recent good runs in the National Village Cup. The club reached the semi finals of this prestigious competition as recently as 2014.

During the summer, training takes place at the club on Thursday evenings from 6.30pm.

Ladies and Girls Cricket

In 2012, the club established a Ladies Section and began playing in South East Staffs Women's League which comprises of 8-a-side fixtures played in midweek.  A year later they also joined the Women's Midland League, an 11 a side league played on Sunday afternoon's, and in 2014 won promotion to Division 3.

Training takes place at the club on Monday evenings from 6.30pm.

Junior Cricket

Milford's Junior Section is highly regarded throughout the county with many members going on to achieve County or District representative honours.

Milford Junior sides have regularly enjoyed success in County Cup and will compete in the Staffs Moorlands League during 2017, offering league cricket at 5 different age groups from Under 8s to Under 16s.

Training in the summer is for the  Under13 & Under 15 age groups on Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm. The younger age groups train on Friday evenings from 6.30pm.
